Microsoft office 2003 terdiri dari 7 program yaitu Microsoft word 2003, excel 2003,  powerpoint  2003, access 200 , outlook  2003 , publisher 2003, infopath 2003. dari semua program yang ada mempunyai  kegunaan yang berbeda-beda tetapi mempunyai keterkaitan satu sama lain. Caranya membuat program- tersebut saling berhubungan adalah dengan memadukan program satu dengan program lainnya.

Microsoft word 2003 mempunyai fungsi yang penting bagi banyak orang. Kegunaannya adalah membuat surat sederhana beserta amplop. Di zaman yang modern ini orang lebih suka membuat surat mengggunakan komputer karena lebih praktis, cepat, dan rapi contohnya membuta surat lamaran kerja , surat undangan, surat dinas, surat resmi lainnya. Membuat memo, membuat laporan, tabel  alasannya karena bila membuat laporan dengan di tulis tangan datanya bisa hilang dan membuat itu lagi jadinya mereka menggunakan word ini bila hilang hasil laporannya maka tinggal di print lagi. Merancang fax dan brosur hal ini sering digunakan oleh orang yang bekerja di kantor. Menbuat dokumen berbentuk surat kabar hal ini sering digunakan oleh orang yang bekerja sebagai wartawan. Microsoft powerpoint 2003 mempunyai fungsi untuk membantu kita mempresentasikan laporan. Maksudnya powerpoint bisa menyusun bahan presentasi dan menyajikannya  dalam bentuk visual yang menarik  dalam waktu yang singkat.

   Microsoft outlook 2003 mempunyai fungsi yang unik. Fungsi ini biasanya hanya digunakan untuk mengirim dan membaca surat-e, program ini juga memiliki fungsikalender, jadwal kerja, catatan, dan jurnal. Bila digunakan bersama dengan Microsoft Exchange Server, Outlook dapat menyediakan akses kotak surat, kalender, dan jadwal bersama. Namun karena banyak lubang keamanan dalam Outlook, program ini sering digunakan untuk memasukkan virus, misalnya lewat attachment surat-e. Beberapa contoh virus yang disebarkan lewat cara ini adalah Melissa dan Sobig.
